Testing Accommodations

ARRT complies with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and will provide appropriate accommodations (modifications from standard exam administration) if you demonstrate that you have an ADA-qualifying disability. Accommodations might include permission to use medical aids such as insulin pumps, Pico pocket magnifiers, lumbar pillows, and asthma inhalers.

In most cases, you'll need to submit supporting documentation and a personal statement describing your disability.

HOW TO REQUEST EXAMINATION ACCOMMODATIONS

If you have a disability or ailment for which you require testing accommodations, you'll indicate "Yes" in the Testing Accommodations section of the exam payment process. Once your payment is processed, you'll receive a confirmation statement with instructions to continue your accommodations request.

We contract with Paradigm Testing, an independent company, to manage our ADA accommodations requests. Once Paradigm notifies us of the approval or denial of your accommodations request, ARRT will assign your 90-day exam window. You must complete your exam during this time period.

  • If you request accommodations but you don't submit your documentation to Paradigm, we will return your fee after one year and your exam eligibility will close.
  • If you apply for accommodations and then decide you no longer wish to go through the accommodations approval process, you must notify ARRT via fax to process your exam without test accommodations. (Fax us at 651.687.0349, Attn: State Licensing.)
